Disclaimer: The following is a de-romanticizing of courage.
If courage is the opposite of fear, why is it so scary?
(If you don’t think courage is scary: Bullshit and go read someone else’s blog.)
(If you don’t think courage is scary: Bullshit and go read someone else’s blog.)
Courage leaves you vulnerable.
Courage gives fear the opportunity to defeat you.
Courage stares fear down and dares come and get me.
Holy scary shit, right?
(To recap: We’re afraid of things, and we’re afraid to not be afraid of things. Ah, c’est la vie.)
I will not say by facing your fears, you’ve already won.
I will say by never facing your fears, you’re actively living in defeat; you’ve already lost.
There are only two choices:
(a) live in fear
(b) take a chance to not live in fear
All you have to lose is fear itself.
