The anxious heart forgets to love.
The anxious heart spends so much time
worrying about the future,
panicking over the what ifs,
rushing to force resolution,
that it forgets about everyone else.
With all its energy spent
inward, none remains for the outward.
My anxious heart forgets to love.
When I’m only focused on myself,
I can’t love the strangers downtown,
my neighbors down the street.
Hell, I can’t even love my family down the hall.
I find comfort that pop culture isn’t the only one saying “let go.”
