Life will eventually take everything from us,
and if not life, Death.
This sounds morbid,
depressing,
desolate,
discouraging.
But: This is why we love.
Not to cheat life, and if not life, Death.
Not to cling to what isn’t really ours.
No, to cherish it.
To declare that, even though I will lose you—
be it to another, to my vices, or to Death—
even though you won’t be mine forever,
I still give you my best effort today.
If it’s all going to be taken from us anyway,
we’ve nothing to lose.
