An angry letter to the Supreme Court; a love poem to women.
176: because my home is Home
If your home isn’t Home, I invite you into mine.
175: because we can make it through this
Your time in isolation is not defined by how much you accomplish.
174: because the opposite of fear is not courage
I do not need the bravery of a soldier; I need the trust of a servant.
170: because you can feel both joy and grief
This life is full, friends.
164: because marriage isn’t the point
If you think marriage is the end of your relationship (and not the beginning) you’re in for a real rough-fucking ride.
149: because we are all just people
I first heard the mantra during freshman year. My pre-college self would have been all Fuck that shit, but my then-college self was on the losing side of depression and self-harm, and she was ready for answers.
145: because you and I will (still) lose it all
It’s been a hell of a year. Pardon me while I lay it all out to dry.
143: because marriage is scary shit
It’s November 2015 and I already have three weddings scheduled next year. And I was in two this year. And I went to three last year.
In between bridesmaid dress shopping and the electric slide, I have to fight that destructive voice in my head asking, “Why aren’t you good enough to be getting married?”
132: because love?
I’ve concluded: Love doesn’t make any goddamn sense to me. And it makes me angry because I think that may be the point.
